While there aren’t any set Slack password requirements, you must ensure your new password is more than six characters long. How to Change Slack Password on Mobile and Desktop

You can change your password in Slack even while signing in. This is especially helpful if you feel like your account has been compromised or if you have accidentally left your Slack account signed in on an unknown device. Here’s how to do it using the Slack desktop and mobile app.

Using Slack Desktop App

Step 1: Open Slack on any web browser.

Open Slack

Step 2: Then, click on your profile picture in the top right corner.

Step 3: Click on Profile.

Step 4: Scroll down and click on the three-dot icon.

Step 5: Now, click on Account settings.

Step 6: Once the settings page opens, go to Password and click on expand.

Step 7: Here, enter your current password and then the new password you wish to set.

Step 8: Once done, click on Save Password.

This will change the password in Slack on all your devices. 

Using Slack Mobile App

Step 1: Open the Slack mobile app.

Step 2: Tap on You in the bottom right corner.

Step 3: Then, tap on Preferences.

Step 4: Scroll down and tap on Account Settings.

Note: iOS users must tap Advanced first, followed by Account Settings.

Step 5: Here, go to Password and tap on expand.

Step 6: Now, enter your current password and the new password.

Step 7: Then, tap on Save Password.

This will change your Slack password across all devices.

How to Reset Slack Password if You Forgot It

Another option you can use to secure your account is resetting your Slack password. Using this option, you can recover your Slack account, even if you have forgotten your password. So, follow the below steps to reset your Slack password using the desktop and mobile app.

Note: Ensure you have access to the email ID associated with your Slack account before proceeding.

Using Slack Desktop App

Tip: If you’re currently signed in to your Slack account, you can skip straight to step 5.

Step 1: Open Slack on any web browser.

Open Slack

Step 2: Here, enter the email address associated with your Slack account and click on ‘Sign In With Email’.

Step 3: Now, open your email and copy the code.

Step 4: Paste or manually type the sign-in code in the designated boxes and wait for Slack to sign you in.

Step 5: Then, click on your profile picture.

Step 6: From the options, click on Profile.

Step 7: Here, click on the three-dot icon.

Step 8: Click on Account settings.

Step 9: Go to Password and click on expand.

Step 10: Here, click on ‘Reset your password by email’.

Step 11: Once again, check your email for the password reset link. Once received, click on ‘Choose a New Password’.

Step 12: On this page, type and re-type your new password.

Step 13: Once done, click on ‘Change my password’.

This will reset your Slack password for all devices. If you cannot find the password reset email, ensure to look through the junk and trash folders as well. If it’s still not visible, wait a while before requesting another password reset link.

Using Slack Mobile App

Tip: If you’re currently signed in to your Slack account, you can skip straight to step 5.

Step 1: Open the Slack mobile app.

Step 2: Here, tap on ‘Continue with Email’.

Step 3: Enter your Slack email ID and tap on Next.

Step 4: Then, open your email on your mobile and tap ‘Confirm Email Address’.

Step 5: Once signed in, from the menu options, tap on You.

Step 6: Tap on Preferences.

Step 7: Here, tap on Account Settings. iOS users tap on Advanced > Account Settings.

Step 8: Go to Password and tap on expand.

Step 9: Scroll down and tap on ‘Reset your password by email’.

Step 10: Open your email app on your mobile and tap on ‘Choose a New Password’.

Step 11: Enter and re-enter your new password.

Step 12: Then, tap on ‘Change my password’.

This will help you change your Slack password even if you forgot the previous one.
